Well anchored

A master on one of the anchor handing vessels servicing the North Sea once told us to “Respect the Sea” for it is an unforgiving and unrelenting enemy when stirred! How true these words are when you operate in this industry sector in rough seas, sometimes in the worst conditions imaginable.

The engineers in our Marine Division at PCL Group have to attend to PSV and AHTS vessels in exactly the conditions mentioned above, every day of the week, 24 hours per day.

Offering a quick response is crucial as a vessel may only be in the harbour for less than 4 hours before being back out on charter servicing the Oil & Gas industry.

These vessels require an engineer with the ability to work against all the elements, in conditions that could be potentially dangerous and on systems that are not classed as standard installations and more importantly against the clock.

At PCL Group the engineers that service this sector for faults appertaining to computer and control systems on the various vessels not only maintain vessels entering Aberdeen Harbour but also vessels which are located throughout Scotland, the UK and internationally. Vessels working at rigside or various locations in the sea can also obtain systems support through remote connectivity, so the vessel does not have to wait until it returns to port for repair. Reducing the necessity to take the vessel off charter until the workscope is completed, is part of the process and service on offer.

Systems can be completely replaced, upgraded or maintained whilst the vessel is in drydock - assuring the client that all computer, communication and control systems are being utilized to maximum capacity with minimum loss of time whilst the vessel is out on location. Crews are assured that they can operate with the right systems in place and more importantly that they are confident the systems are providing them with the tools to carry out workscopes whilst out at sea.
